Saint Leo University provides accredited online education to working adults. They began by providing education primarily to military personnel, but now provide one of the most comprehensive curriculums to people throughout the country. The lectures and class material are available to students 24 hours a day. Since the lectures are video and audio streamed, you can watch them several times. You also have access to a bulletin board and chat rooms that allow you to maintain real time contact with peers and instructors. The available programs include Associate, Bachelor and Master’s degree programs as well as programs in Continuing Education.
Associate Degree Programs
Associate Degree programs provide you with an introduction to the career field along with basic skills that will often enable you to obtain an entry level position. In most cases, you will then want to continue your studies to at least complete the Bachelor’s degree.
Bachelor of Arts Vs Bachelor of Science
You will notice that some of the bachelor degree programs at Saint Leo are BA degrees while others are BS degrees. Generally the Bachelor of Arts degree involves more reading in the field, more theoretical research and an understanding of how the subject area relates to the human condition. A bachelor of science degree is more math oriented, often requiring the application of scientific procedures and experiments in the field being studied. If you see a program that offers both options, you may want to ask your advisor for more specific information about the difference between the two approaches. Saint Leo uses a liberal arts approach for most of their degree programs.
Business Administration Degrees
The Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration allows you to choose between a degree with a specialization in Accounting or one that specializes in management. While you could earn both degrees, you cannot do so simultaneously.
Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice
This criminal justice degree requires 39 credit hours of study and will prepare you for numerous opportunities in fields of law, police work and other related fields. If you want to move up the career ladder later on, this degree also provides the necessary background to enroll in a master’s degree program.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems begins with a broad liberal arts program. Once you have completed the core courses, you will add courses involving the application of technical knowledge and skills that will enable you to succeed in a computer based career field.
Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management
Saint Leo’s Health Care Management degree will prepare you for Social Services work, nursing supervision and much more in the health care field. You will be qualified for an entry level position with the bachelor’s degree, but will also be able to continue your education toward graduate degrees.
