Psychology Degree Programs
Psychology is the study of the human mind and behaviors.
If you are interested in understanding why people do the things they do
and helping them become the best they can, then you may decide to become
a psychologist! Psychologists provide mental health services in clinics,
counseling centers, hospitals, schools, and individual or group practices.
They interview patients, provide diagnostic testing, and may offer individual,
family or group psychotherapy.

Some
psychologists investigate the cognitive, emotional, physical, or social
aspects of human behavior. Psychology services are utilized in a wide
array of fields including health and human services, law, education, management,
and sports. In addition to working in a number of different settings,
psychologists typically specialize in one particular area. Employment
as an independent, licensed clinical or counseling psychologist requires
a doctoral degree. Individuals with a Ph.D. in psychology qualify for
various clinical, counseling, teaching, research, government, and private
industry positions. Individuals who have earned a Master's may work
as industrial-organizational psychologists and those with just a Bachelor's
may assist psychologists and other professionals. In order to offer psychological
services to patients, one must meet specific certification and/or licensing
requirements. Licensing and certification laws differ by state and by
type of position.
