Today’s Adult Students Take Advantage of Online Distance Learning
Technology Degrees often first choice

If you are trying to get into a college for education you did not get years ago, you aren't alone. While many traditional students are exploring the realm of online education for the convenience of living closer to home and for the lower tuition, many returning adults or “non-traditional” students have been adding their names to the class rosters. And, while the choice of programs is only limited by your time to look for them, more students enroll in some sort of technology related degree than any other type of program.

The reasons for so many online students are obvious. The first thing most people think of is the convenience of being able to keep your job and get a college education at the same time. However, there are additional reasons for the growth in online education, and, again, much of it is related to technology. When you graduated from high school or even college 20 or 25 years ago, computers were in their infancy, and the internet was accessible to only a few. Only the largest businesses had incorporated the internet and the vast possibilities related to computer technology into their industries. A person could get a job without knowing anything about computers.

Today, the world is a different place. Jobs that require no technical savvy are few and far between, and are getting scarcer every day. Young people who have grown up with today’s technology stand a better chance of getting a high paying job over a person with years of experience simply because they graduate with a certain degree of technological expertise. The person who doesn't know how to use email, access a data-base, save a file, or electronically transfer a document is rare—and usually “older.” Of course, those things are just routine tasks and do not represent even the basics of the many roles played by technology in our lives today.

The following list is just a few of the categories of degree fields being offered online today.

Regardless of the type of degree you want, you will be able to find it online. The one thing they all have in common is that they all make use of modern technology to varying extents. Some, however, are technology degrees in and of themselves; that is you are learning the technology and then applying it to a variety of business applications. In the days of “traditional” study, you learned the business or discipline and then learned how a particular type of technology could make the tasks more efficient.

Since so much of your degree will be technology related, the study lends itself well to an online format. As long as you have access to the internet, a printer, possibly a fax machine, and up-to-date hardware that will run the necessary programs, you can do anything online that you could once have done in a classroom or even in a library.

Even applications for financial aid for your program can be completed online. The decision is easy. Just use our friendly forms to retrieve the information of your choice and begin the journey to your new or updated career today.
