While
there are a number of opportunities for you to take cooking classes,
being skilled in the art of cooking does require your receiving
formal culinary education from a culinary school. Recreational cooking
classes are fun, but they just tend to teach you specific recipes
rather than everything you need to know in order to be a successful
chef. Culinary cooking schools provide an opportunity for individuals
to become successful chefs.
Today, there are more than 100 accredited training
programs available across the country. Pay rates do vary according
to geographic area, training, and prior experience. Trained chefs
make anywhere from $25,000 to $200,000 per year.
