Liberty University offers a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling degree program. The program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation of the knowledge and skills they need to work effectively as a professional counselor. Students receive specific training that is designed to lead to licensure and national certification. Coursework is comprised of Council for Accreditation of Counseling and other related educational programs.

 

Capella University offers a Master of Science in Human Services programs with specializations in Counseling Studies, Marital, Couple and Family Counseling/Therapy, Mental Health Counseling - CACREP Accredited, School Counseling, and more. These specializations are designed to teach students how to apply systems-based counseling theories and research methodology in practice. Some program specialties do have residency requirements.

 

Walden University offers a Ph.D. in Human Services with a Specialization in Counseling program. The program is research intensive and provides students with the action-oriented research skills they need to succeed in such roles as licensed independent social worker or social services manager. Coursework includes developmental theories, biopsychosocial stress, human diversity and behaviors, and more.

 

The University of Phoenix Online offers a Bachelor of Science in Human Services/Management degree program. This diverse program combines instruction in management skills of planning and organizing with instruction in counseling, social work, and psychology. Coursework includes Organizational Behavior, Organization Psychology, Cultural Diversity and Special Populations, and a whole lot more.

Counseling degree can be as advanced as you want them, from the Bachelors, to the Masters, to the Grauate school degree programs. Of course, the higher your degree, the more you can expect to be paid and the more you will be qualified to do. For example, a person with a doctoral degree might eventually by the supervisor of a mental health or christian counseling center. Human Services—Counseling
Courses focus on healthy life adjustment, understanding human diversity, and a comprehensive synthesis of theoretical approaches (social, behavioral and development) to human growth.

Rehabilitation Counseling
A focus on rehabilitation counseling will enable you to work with individuals and groups who must cope with various disabilities—both genetic and those resulting from accidents or illness. You will learn how to plan, develop and evaluate services for the disabled within a community.

Salaries for Counselors
School counselors and social workers make from $31,000 to $68,000, depending on the years of experience. A person with a doctoral degree can expect an additional $3,000 to $4,000 per year depending on geographic area and actual job title. The median salary for vocational counselors is $54,000.
